Title: Rational hooks, magic numbering and uniform enumeration
Abstract: A sequence of cells of the lattice ${\mathbb Z}^2$, whose central points satisfy $v_{n+1}-v_n\in\{e_1,e_2\}$, is called a hook. Rational hooks arise when observing ambiguity in approximating straight lines in the plane by lattice paths. Rational hooks can be characterized in several ways, the most interesting uses numbering of the hook cells in such a way that the row sums and column sums are constant (magic numbering), or, enumeration of the hook cells from 1 to $n$ so that the difference between two consecutive cells in the same row (column) is constant (uniform enumeration).
