| Title: | The critical exponent of Sturmian sequences |
| Abstract: | We recall connection between the maximal exponent of a factor, the recurrent function of a sequence, bispecial factors and return words to a factor. Combining known results on these notions together with S-adic representation of Sturmian sequences, we provide a proof of the Damanik-Lenz theorem on critical exponent. We will discuss how to extend the theorem to Rote sequences. |
