Title: Number fields generated by Pisot units
Abstract: Pisot numbers are an intriguing class of algebraic integers with applications in harmonic analysis, dynamical systems, or non-standard numeration. It was a result of R. Salem that showed that any real algebraic field is generated by a Pisot number. A polynomial-time algorithm was later provided by Q. Cheng and J. Zhuang. We will show that any real field can be generated by a Pisot unit and an algorithm for finding such generator will be presented. We will also discuss the case of complex fields and complex Pisot numbers generating them.
